Mice from hell!

Dreams are a big deal! I mean the real(?) dreams, the ones you see when you are asleep. I guess I'm one of the lucky few, that see one almost every time they fall asleep. My friends tell me that they rarely dream, and some don't see dreams at all! Is that possible? To not have dreams when you sleep? Something I find hard to believe. I have run into varied opinions about dreams. Most scientist say that dreaming is a healthy exercise that provides the mind some sort of balance. What sort of balance? Duhh, I'm not sure about that. Psychologist say that dreams are the sign of a troubled mind that finds it hard to rest. Gosh! I ain't no troubled soul for that matter. I see all sorts of dreams, but the hardest part is that I never seem to have dreams about the things that I really want to dream about. I have fantasies, we all do. Now now, I'm not talking anything sexual here. Fantasies that I'm supposed to be too mature for now, the kiddish fantasies. I would like to dream about being a superman, going to the moon, being the richest man in the world, owning the fastest car in the world..., So at times I try to plan what I want to dream about before I go to sleep. But it doesn't happen. Something else would always crawl up into my dreams. The one thing that I want to dream about, it never happens. Gosh, how miserable is that?

Like any man alive, I do have certain deep rooted fears. Things that really make the hair on arms stand up. Amazingly enough, most of these fears did originate from my dreams. One such dream that I still remember, is of time when I was about 12 years old. I dreamt of these giant mice hanging from their tails on trees. If you touched one, they'd come to life. Oh no they didn't gobble you up or anything like that, but hey would follow you around where ever you'd go. Still remember how I woke up with a loud shriek that night. Knocked on my parents door and spent the next couple of nights curled up between them. The reassuring "warmth" of their hugs. Have hugged many people, but that warmth, it's exclusive and found no where else. Only they can make me feel it, just them. "Jadoo ki jhappi?", now that sure is a funny sounding name for it, but then what about it is not magical? Oh no, I'm not scared of those "giant mice" anymore! Seriously yaar !

Nice post about dreams. I am one of those who rarely dream.. only a very few in my whole life of .. years. :) Perhaps because I sleep very little, poor dreams take time you know. ;)

Two of my dreams are described here.

Note- That's a cutie pie getting lots of attention from elders, making me nostalgic. :)
